Hope United is hosting a FREE "Love Bears All" event for children ages preschool - 8th grade, who have lost a parent to an overdose in our area. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Guy's Party Center in Akron. Admission is free for each child and accompanying adult, but registration is required. The event will include pizza, snacks, a hand-stuffed "Love Bears All" teddy bear for each child, a memorial craft, games, dancing, and photo opportunity with the Frozen sisters and Spiderman. We want the children to experience an evening of fun - free of the judgement and stigma that can follow the death of a parent from an overdose. As we are trying to reach out to the children who have had to bear the loss of a parent to an overdose, this event is only open to children who have experienced such a loss. Each child in attendance must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please register by 11/17/17 to attend.
This event will kick off the launch of our "Love Bears All" Outreach Program for children who have lost a parent to an overdose. These hand-stuffed bears will be provided to first responders, police, and children's services with the purpose to provide comfort to a child who has just received the heartbreaking news of losing a parent or sibling to an overdose. Each bear will include a note of encouragement and a resource brochure for their parent or guardian. We encourage you to follow our Facebook page to learn more at Facebook.com/WeAreHopeUnited.
